I’ve noticed on Twitter this week that there has been a flurry of activity surrounding Google+ again. I’m not quite sure what has caused it, however it would appear that it is focused on getting people to use it more. So why is this necessary? Well, looking at the other major sites such as Facebook… Continue reading »

The business case for social media
Social media is very important for business. This is now an established fact because of both the benefits it can provide and how it can help to develop a company. This morning’s conference hosted by Precise raised some very important points of which all businesses need to be aware. The first question – what are… Continue reading »

What is Twitter doing for PR?
A lot. Seriously. It has provided an extra avenue in which we look for news stories, contacts, opportunities, entertainment and personality. However, as this article by Darren Cottom highlights, it should not be the only place we use. Technological advances are supposed to help and improve what we do, not kill it off. Ultimately, it… Continue reading »

Twitter conference by The Social Media Academy
Yesterday I attended what can only be described as the most eye-opening and interesting conference about Twitter. Twitter can be used in many different ways – with some notable exceptions on how not to use it – it gave us a good insight into how and why brands are using it more and more. ABS – what about the brand?

Networking – what to do next
The first point (in my previous post) was highlighting the importance of meeting people face to face. The rapport and relationship created can be very good and useful for business (and social) purposes. However, unless you maintain that relationship, you will have not used your time effectively. So, now you have your contact, what are… Continue reading »

Headline: “Lawyers should wake up to social media, urges PR agency”
This article in the Lawyer about social media caught my eye recently – here’s the link: http://www.thelawyer.com/lawyers-should-wake-up-to-social-media-urges-pr-agency/1006351.article. Is it commendable? Is it the right thing to do?

Taking advantage of remote networking
We are all being delayed/affected/irritated by the snow this week. It is evidently a fact of life that, in Britain, especially London and the South East, our public transport will not be able to effectively deal with the snow for the foreseeable future.
The headlines across the newspapers all report doom and gloom – the ineffectiveness of our transport system, the devastating effects to the retail industry (because shoppers cannot physically get to Oxford Street) and the billions that will be lost each day because commuters cannot get to work.
